Born in France on March 2, 1970, Julien Lourau is a jazz saxophonist, composer,
and bandleader. The son of sociologist René Lourau, he made his musical debut as
a member of the group Trash Corporation. Soon after leaving that group, he
founded Groove Gang and released his first album, Groove Gang, in 1995. The
group released one more album – City Boom Boom (1998) – before he began
recording as a solo artist. His first release as a solo artist was 2000’s
Gambit, which found the musician embracing electro music. He returned to a more
