Johnny Hates Jazz is a British pop band formed in London in 1985 by Clark
Datchler (vocals, keyboards), Calvin Hayes (keyboards, drums) and Mike Nocito
(bass, guitar). Their style combines sophisticated pop, catchy melodies and the
smooth production characteristic of the late 1980s. Signed to Virgin Records,
they achieved international success with their first major single, "Shattered
Dreams " (1987), which reached number 5 on the UK charts and number 2 on the US
