John Michael Montgomery, born on 20 January 1965 in Danville, Kentucky, is an American country music artist. He started his musical journey with his brother Eddie Montgomery, later of Montgomery Gentry, emboldened by their father, who played in a local country band. He signed with Atlantic Records, and his debut album Life's A Dance was released in 1992. His breakthrough came with "I Love The Way You Love Me", which reached number one in the country charts and was named Single of the Year by the Academy of Country Music.
