John Crofton Harle is an English saxophonist, composer, record producer,
conductor and educator. He began his musical career as a clarinettist in the
band of the Coldstream Guards from 1974 to 1977 and studied at the Royal College
of Music in London, where he won the Dannreuter Concerto Competition in 1978 and
graduated with exceptional distinction. Harle collaborated extensively with
Michael Nyman’s band from 1979 to 2000 and served as Principal Saxophone of the
