Joseph Arthurlin Harriott, born on July 15, 1928 in Kingston, Jamaica, was a jazz musician and composer known for his alto saxophone skills. He moved to London in 1951 as part of Ossie Da Costa's band and quickly gained attention within the British jazz scene. In 1954, Harriott released his first album Killer Joe. Throughout the 1950s, he recorded several EPs. In 1960, Harriott turned to "abstract" or "free-form" jazz, releasing albums such as Free Form (1960) and Abstract (1963).
