João Gomes is a Brazilian singer-songwriter who performs in the piseiro genre,
one of the many subgenres of the incredibly popular forró music. Born João
Fernando Gomes Valério on July 31, 2002, in Serrita, Pernambuco, he started
singing in his local church choir and later enrolled in the Instituto Federal de
Pernambuco to become an agricultural technician. During this time, João Gomes
began uploading videos of himself singing and playing guitar to his
