Jesse Green
Locksley Alphonso Green, known professionally as Jesse Green, was born on 5 July
1948 in Saint James, Jamaica. A singer and drummer, he began his career in the
United Kingdom in the late 1960s as a member of the reggae group The Pioneers,
remaining with the trio until the mid-1970s. After leaving the group, he
launched a solo career that blended reggae, soul, funk, and disco. Green made
his solo breakthrough in 1976 with the international hit "Nice and Slow", taken
