Jess Stacy
Jess Stacy, born Jesse Alexander Stacy on August 11, 1904, in Bird's Point,
Missouri, was an American jazz pianist prominent during the swing era. He began
his career performing with Peg Meyer's jazz ensemble, which was later renamed as
Peg Meyer's Melody Kings and started touring the Mississippi River. In the early
1920s, Stacy moved to Chicago and played with Paul Mares. In 1935, Benny Goodman
invited Stacy to join his band, a significant period that included their
Carnegie Hall concert in 1938. After leaving Goodman's band, Stacy joined Bob
