Joseph Gaetan Mengozzi, known professionally as Jerry Mengo, was born in 1911 in
Nice, France. He began his career as a jazz musician and bandleader, gaining
recognition for his work with musicians such as Louis Armstrong and Benny Carter
during the 1930s. Mengo's early recordings included collaborations with Django
Reinhardt and Alix Combelle. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Mengo released
numerous albums including Club De Danse (1954) and Suprise Party ...Sans Laisser
D'Adresse (1960). He was known for his contributions to film music and his hit
song "Twistin' The Twist" (1961)...
