Jennifer Johnston, born in Liverpool, United Kingdom, is a mezzo‑soprano who
initially pursued a legal career, studying law at the University of Cambridge
and working as a barrister before enrolling at the Royal College of Music. Her
operatic debut came with Hänsel for Scottish Opera, followed by international
appearances as Dido at the Aix‑en‑Provence Festival and Carmi at the Salzburg
