Jekalyn Almonique Carr was born in West Memphis, Tennessee, on April 22, 1997.
She began serving in her church choir at the age of 5, when family and friends
noticed that she had a good ear for music. A self-taught singer who became a
lead chorister in her local church, she was called to serve in ministry at the
age of eleven, both as a speaker and a singer. At 15, she turned to music with
the release of her single "Greater Is Coming", which entered the Billboard
