Jean Marie Vaissade, known as Jean Vaissade, was born on June 30, 1911, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. He was a French accordionist and composer. Vaissade began his recording career in 1927 with Excelsior, followed by releases on Idéal and Gramophone labels. In 1928, he collaborated with Django Reinhardt, helping to launch the latter's career. Around 1934, Vaissade became the first accompanist for Édith Piaf. He composed melodies for Rina Ketty's hits such as "Sombreros et Mantilles".
