Jandek is the musical project of American lo-fi folk singer Sterling Smith. His
work has been characterized by its atonal form of folk and blues music and
unconventional chord structures, and it has attracted a dedicated following
among alternative artists such as Sonic Youth and Ben Gibbard. Since 1978, he
has released over 120 albums through his self-made label, Corwood Industries.
Notable albums include Six and Six (1981), Chair Beside a Window (1982), The
Rocks Crumble (1983), Lost Cause (1992), and Graven Image (1994).
