James Phillips
James Phillips was born on January 22, 1959, and was a South African rock
musician, vocalist, songwriter, and performer. He began his career in the early
1980s, releasing the EP Corporal Punishment in 1980 and the single "My Broken
Heart" in 1983, establishing a reputation for rebellious and satirical political
music. He signed with Shifty Records and released the albums Sunny Skies (1994)
and Made in South Africa (1995), the latter compiling tracks from 1978 to 1995;
both albums were later issued as digital downloads by Sjambokmusic. He died on
