Shyamalal Babu Rai (performing as Indeevar; January 1, 1924 – February 27, 1997)
was an Indian Hindi film lyricist from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. He moved to Mumbai
to pursue a professional career, attaining initial success with the film Malhar
(1951), where he wrote the song “Bade Armano Se Rakkha Hai Balam Teri Kasam”,
set to music by Roshan. Throughout a career spanning four decades, Indeevar
authored over 1,000 songs for more than 300 films. Major credits include “Tumse
Badhkar Duniya Mai” from the film Kaamchor and “Ye Bandhan To Pyar Ka” from
