Ibeyi
Lisa Kaindé-Diaz and Naomi Diaz are the daughters of Cuban percussionist Anga
Diaz, a member of the Buena Vista Social Club. Based in Europe, they don’t
specialize in Cuban music but rather in a kind of experimental neo-soul,
accompanied by piano and percussion. Under the name Ibeyi (“twins” in the Yoruba
language), they signed with XL Recordings. The EP *Oya*, released in 2014, and
the album *Ibeyi*, released in February 2015, showcase the twin duo’s
compositions.
