Howard Goodman, born November 7, 1921 in Dora, Alabama, was an American gospel
singer. He started his career in the 1940s performing Southern gospel with his
sisters Gussie Mae and Stella. In 1949, he founded The Happy Goodman Family,
which included various combinations of his eight siblings and his wife Vestal
Goodman (née Freeman). The group gained attention in the early 1960s and
