Head Automatica was formed in Brooklyn, New York in 2003 by vocalist
Daryl Palumbo, guitarist Craig Bonich, and drummer Larry Gorman. The trio’s
early work emerged from Palumbo’s interest in hip‑hop and Britpop, diverging
from his Glassjaw background. Their debut single, "Brooklyn Is Burning"
(2004‑04‑13), preceded the release of the album Decadence (2004‑08‑17), which
entered the Billboard 200 and the Top Heatseekers chart; the single "Please
Please Please" followed in 2004. In 2005 the band issued the EP Beating Heart
