Hawaiian6, a Japanese punk rock band formed in 1997, originally started as a
cover band for Hi-Standard. The group consisted of Yuta on vocals and guitar,
Toru on bass and backing vocals, and Hatano on drums. Their first release was
the EP Fantasy, signed to Step Up Records in 2000. In 2002, Hawaiian6
transitioned to Pizza of Death Records, which re-released their debut studio
album Souls. The band gained significant attention when six of their songs were
featured in the TBS drama series Gachi Baka! without permission in January 2006.
