Hans-Joachim Rotzsch, born on April 25, 1929 in Leipzig, Germany, was a singer,
choirmaster, and university professor. He studied church music at the Leipzig
Academy of Music from 1949 and began his career as an oratorio tenor, joining
the Leipzig Bach Soloists. Notable albums include "Schweigt Stille, Plaudert
Nicht" Coffee Cantata BWV 211- "Mer Hahn En Neue Oberkeet" Cantata En Burlesque
(The Peasant´s Cantata), BWV 212 (1963) and Symphoniae Sacrae (2. Folge) (1970).
In 1972, he became Thomaskantor, succeeding Erhard Mauersberger. He was awarded
the Art Prize of the GDR in 1967...
