British bassist, singer, songwriter and producer, nicknamed "The Voice of rock"
for his powerful vocal performances and bass playing influenced by funk, soul,
blues and hard rock. An iconic figure of 1970s rock, he is best known for his
stint with Deep Purple (1973-1976), his work with Trapeze, Black Country
