Giovanni Pettenati, known professionally as Gianni Pettenati, and born on
October 29, 1945, in Piacenza, Italy, is a singer and music critic. He began his
career at a young age, winning a music competition and performing in a play by
Luigi Pirandello. In April 1965, he won the Festival di Bellaria and joined the
group Juniors for the recording of "Come una pietra che rotola", a cover of Bob
Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." His breakthrough came with the release of
"Bandiera Gialla," the Italian version of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. Pettenati
