Gianni Basso
Gianni Basso, who was born on May 24, 1931, in Asti, was an Italian saxophonist
and clarinetist. He studied at the conservatory in his birthplace before
performing in American clubs across Belgium and Germany. Basso established his
presence on the jazz scene through prominent collaborations with artists such as
Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Cole, and Dusko Goykovich. His discography
includes Chet Baker in Milan (1959), New Sound from Italy (1960), and Recado
Bossa Nova (2009). He also led the AT Big Band, recording the album Miss Bo
