England, was a musician and composer of film music. He began composing at age
five and enrolled in the Trinity College of Music at fourteen. Melachrino
started his career singing and playing at Savoy Hill Studios in 1927. In 1945,
he formed the George Melachrino Orchestra, known for its lush string
