Bassist, keyboardist and vocalist with Canadian progressive rock band Rush from
1968 to 2015, Geddy Lee has influenced a large number of musicians. Born Gary
Lee Weinrib in North York, Ontario, on July 29, 1953, he learned guitar at the
age of fourteen, then drums, trumpet, clarinet and piano, before settling on
bass, particularly after listening to Jack Bruce in Cream. A classmate of
guitarist Alex Lifeson, he replaced Rush's original bassist, Jeff Jones, and
