František Vincenc Kramář, also known as Franz Krommer, born on November 27,
1759, in Kamenice, Moravia, was a Moravian composer of the German language. He
began his musical education from 1773 to 1776, studying violin and organ with
his uncle Antonín Mátyás Kramář. In 1785, he moved to Vienna as a violinist for
the orchestra of the Duke of Styrum in Hungary. Krommer became the master of the
chapel at Pécs Cathedral in 1790 and returned to Vienna in 1795. His prolific
