Flare, an experimental pop group from New York, was formed in 1996 by guitarist
Damian Costilla and singer LD Beghtol. The band's early sound was deeply
influenced by artists such as The Smiths and The Velvet Underground. Flare
released their debut album Bottom in 1997. Shortly after its release, Costilla
left the group, and Beghtol continued under the Flare moniker until 2001, when
he renamed the band Flare Acoustic Arts League. Under this name, Beghtol
