Fueled by football and riding high on the wave of Britart and Britpop,
three-headed supergroup Fat Les – originally comprising Blur bassist Alex James,
actor Keith Allen and celebrated artist Damien Hirst – struck out with their
"Vindaloo" single in 1998 and scored a timeless hit. "Vindaloo," which was
released in June 1998 and recorded for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, took
its title from a spicy Goan curry and was intended to parody football songs. It
