Face Candy was an American improvisational jazz rap group formed in 2005 in
Saint Paul, Minnesota. The group initially consisted of rapper Eyedea, drummer
J.T. Bates, bassist Casey O'Brien, and local rappers Kristoff Krane, Carnage,
and Mazta I. Known as Eyedea & Friends, the group began performing extended
freestyles with improvised instrumental backing at local hip-hop venues. After a
negative reception from fans expecting traditional rap performances, the group
took a hiatus before reviving under the new name Face Candy. The group released
