Emma Johnson, born May 20, 1966, in Barnet, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, is a
British clarinettist. She studied under John Brightwell and joined the National
Youth Orchestra of Great Britain at age 15. Emma Johnson's breakthrough came in
1984 when she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, performing
Crusell’s Second Concerto. This led to her representing Britain at the European
Young Musician Competition, where she received a Bronze Award. She made her
