Elisabeth Sara "Elly" Ameling is a Dutch soprano. Born on February 8, 1933 in
Rotterdam, Netherlands, she made her professional debut in her birthplace in
1953. She later sang with Pierre Bernac and won first prize at the International
Vocal Competition 's-Hertogenbosch in 1956, followed by first prize at the
Concours International de Musique in Geneva in 1958. She performed globally for
more than 40 years, collaborating with leading international orchestras and
conductors including Seiji Ozawa and Neville Marriner. Her operatic roles
