Ellen Shipley, born on March 24, 1949, in New York City, New York, United
States, is an American singer and songwriter. At sixteen, she obtained a NYC
Cabaret license and performed in Greenwich Village. In the early 1970s, Shipley
was signed to Tommy Mottola's company after being noticed by an associate at
Pearl’s Place jazz club. She released her debut album Ellen Shipley (1979),
followed by Breaking Through the Ice Age (1980) and Call of the Wild (1983).
