Edwin Maurice Outwater, born on April 12, 1971, in the United States, is an
American conductor. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1993 with
a degree in English literature and earned a master’s degree in conducting from
the University of California, Santa Barbara. Outwater’s early career included
positions with the Florida Philharmonic and as resident conductor for outreach
and education at the San Francisco Symphony, where he also led tours and
