Edge of Sanity, a Swedish death metal band from Finspång, was formed in 1989 by
Dan Swanö and Andreas "Dread" Axelsson. Their demo Kur-Nu-Gi-A (1990) secured a
deal with Black Mark Productions. The debut album, Nothing But Death Remains,
followed in 1991. In 1992, they released Unorthodox, which featured acoustic
guitar parts and varied rhythms. The Spectral Sorrows (1993) incorporated
progressive rock elements. The band's unique sound continued to evolve with
acclaimed albums like Purgatory Afterglow (1994) and the experimental Crimson
