George Alexander Aberle, known as Eden Ahbez, was born on April 15, 1908, in
Brooklyn, New York, United States. He spent his early years in an orphanage and
later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he performed as a pianist and dance
band leader during the 1930s. In 1947, Ahbez handed Nat "King" Cole's manager
the music for "Nature Boy" (1948), which became a Number 1 hit for eight weeks.
This breakthrough led to media attention and legal action over the song's
