Edgar Charles "Eddie" Thompson, known as Eddie Thompson, was a British jazz
pianist born on May 31, 1925, in Shoreditch, London. He was blind and studied at
Linden Lodge School for the Blind, and began his career in the mid-1940s, active
in the London jazz scene while also working as a piano tuner. His first notable
recording was with Johnny Dankworth's quartet in 1948. In the 1950s, Thompson
led his own groups and collaborated with prominent musicians. He moved to the
United States in 1962 and performed at venues like the Hickory House from 1963
