Douglas Lawrence
Raymond Douglas Lawrence, born in 1943, is an Australian organist and choral
conductor. After completing a master's degree in music from the University of
Melbourne in 1969, Lawrence studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under
Anton Heiller until 1971. Lawrence founded the Australian Baroque Ensemble, the
Australian Chamber Choir, and the Choir of Ormond College. In 1979, the musician
performed the inaugural concert on the organ of the Sydney Opera House, and
later played the first concert on the Melba Hall organ. Notable recordings
