John Douglas Gamley, born on September 13, 1924 in Melbourne, Australia, was a
composer. In September 1944, he performed as a solo pianist with the ABC
Symphony Orchestra. Gamley’s career progressed through orchestral arrangements
for film and television, notably scoring the horror feature Asylum (1972) and
the Disney film Tron (1982). He released the folk‑ballad compilation Come to the
Fair in 1984, and collaborated with singers such as Kiri Te Kanawa and
Luciano Pavarotti. Gamley passed away on February 5, 1998 in Highgate, London.
