Dorothy Shay, born Dorothy Sims on April 21, 1921, in Jacksonville, Florida, was
an American singer. She performed for the United Service Organizations during
World War II and adopted the stage name Dorothy Shay to avoid confusion with
Ginny Simms. Her breakthrough came while performing with Morton Gould's
orchestra, where her novelty number "Uncle Fud" became popular. She signed with
Columbia Records and, in 1946, released The Park Avenue Hillbillie Sings, which
