Westdon Martin Abay, born April 5, 1971, in Manila, Philippines, is a Filipino
rock singer and poet. He first emerged in the early 1990s as a founding member
and lead vocalist of the band Yano, whose 1994 self‑titled debut album produced
hits such as "Banal Na Aso, Santong Kabayo" and "Tsinelas". After Yano’s success
and subsequent releases Bawal (1996) and Tara (1997) under BMG, Abay pursued a
solo path in 2005, releasing the EP Sampol and the full‑length album Filipino
(2006), which featured collaborations with Raimund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala.
