DJ Honda is a Japanese record producer and DJ who was born as Katsuhiro Honda in
Hokkaido, Japan, in 1965. He achieved early professional recognition in 1992
after placing as the runner-up in the New Music Seminar's Battle for World
Supremacy in New York City and is famous for his eponymous debut studio
recording h (1995) and for bridging the Japanese and American hip hop scenes.
Honda moved to Tokyo at age 17 to perform as the vocalist and guitarist for the
rock ensemble The Clique before transitioning to DJing in Shizuoka and Tokyo.
