Born in Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes, France) on December 14, 1959, Didier Sustrac drew on his travels in South America to create the songs featured on his 1993 album Zanzibar, including the hit "Tout seul". His bossa nova-tinged style, richly accompanied by woodwinds and reeds, continued on the album Blues Indigo (1995), featuring a composition by Brazilian musician Márcio Faraco, and the duet "À quoi ça sert " with Chico Buarque in 1997.
