Dick Garcia
Dick Garcia, born Richard Joseph Garcia on 11 May 1931 in New York, is an
American jazz guitarist who began playing at age nine and received formal
instruction in 1944‑45. He first appeared on recordings with Tony Scott in 1950
and with George Shearing in 1952, contributing to two Charlie Parker tracks,
"Don Blame Me" and "Ornithology". In 1955, he worked for Joe Roland and Aaron
Sachs, and the same year recorded his album, A Message from Garcia, released by
Dawn in 1956, featuring Bill Evans, Tony Scott, Gene Quill, Frank Isola, Jerry
