Derrick Clifton Harriott, born on February 6, 1939, in Jamaica, is a Jamaican singer and record producer. After forming a duo with Claude Sang Jr. and later forming the Jiving Juniors in 1958, Harriott entered the Vere Johns Opportunity Hour in 1955 as a solo artist and in 1957 as a duo with Sang, winning several times and recording the hit singles “Daffodil” and “Birds of Britain”. Harriott's solo debut single, “I Care”, became a hit, followed by singles such as “What Can I Do” (1964) and “The Jerk” (1965).
