Dennis McGee, born January 26, 1893, in Louisiana, was one of the earliest
recorded Cajun musicians. He received his first violin at age 14 and began
playing dances soon after. In the late 1920s, McGee collaborated with Amédé
Ardoin, recording together in New Orleans from 1929 onwards, including "Taunt
Aline" (1929) and "Two Step de Mama" (1929). He also performed with Sady
Courville and Ernest Frugé, contributing to early examples of Cajun music.
