David Weinstein (contributor)
David Weinstein, born in Chicago on July 21, 1954, is an American electronic
music keyboard player, composer, and sound designer. He began his musical
journey at the University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign, where he studied piano,
violin, contrabass, and voice, and later focused on composition under Ben
Johnston and Sal Martirano, gaining early exposure to microtonal and electronic
music. In 1978, he co‑founded the nonprofit collective Roulette Intermedium,
which became a cornerstone of New York’s experimental scene. Weinstein released
