David Rodriguez
David Roland Rodriguez, born on January 1, 1952, in Houston, Texas, was an
American folk music singer-songwriter, performer, and poet. At age two, he
contracted polio, which affected his mobility. His parents bought him a guitar
to encourage his musical interests. By 14, Rodriguez was playing in a rock band.
He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1979, where he pursued law. He graduated from law
school at The University of Texas, Austin in 1981 and worked as a criminal
lawyer. Rodriguez was recognized for his musical talents, being voted the best
