David Gates – born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 11, 1940 - formed his first
band, The Accents, with piano player Claude Russell Bridges. The group released
a single and played many shows before splitting up. While Claude Russell Bridges
changed his name to Leon Russell and went on to make his own mark in music,
David Gates relocated to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in music. He
