Danny Williams, born Daniel Williams on 7 January 1942 in Port Elizabeth,
Eastern Cape, South Africa, was a traditional pop singer who spent most of his
career in the United Kingdom. At the age of 14, his career began after winning a
talent contest and joining the touring show Golden City Dixies. In 1959, while
performing in London with this group, he caught the attention of EMI's Norman
