Danny Moss

Danny Moss, born Dennis Moss on August 16, 1927, in Redhill, Surrey, England, was a British jazz tenor saxophonist. At age 13, he traded his ice skates for a second-hand clarinet and taught himself to play. After three years of military service in a Royal Air Force band, he performed with the Vic Lewis Orchestra and the Ted Heath band. In 1957, he joined John Dankworth’s orchestra, where he developed a thick, spacious tone praised by Count Basie during a tour of the United States.
